Eh, there isn't much that can be said about having to turn someone's work down. It is always going to rub feelings against the grain. If it is any consolation, my work does not get posted here either, as it is not up to snuff for what this site is looking for. I like the fact this site idealizes a top quality database of images, as being able to come here and find a huge collection of top-notch stuff is pretty awesome. I regret however that it is also like you said, there have been many, many images that have been approved that really should not have been. Part of this is due to the sheer number of moderators on this site, many of which have never even posted a comment before and are strictly behind the scenes, and many of which posted a hand full of images and then that was it. I can fully appreciate your frustration in seeing work posted to the site that you feel is either as good as your own or outright inferior. Seeing the stuff posted grinds my gears as well, because it creates this exact type of double standard.
The only other thing I can offer about getting your work out there and seen as you improve piece by piece, is to start a DeviantArt account if you don't have one already. People will come to you and will undoubtedly be encouraging you for better and better works. This is what I have done to display my own work that does not fit here on this site anyway, and I enjoy it quite a bit.
As for 2.0, with the latest fallout behind the scenes, I do not know if it is still in the works, but last I heard it is not. At least not now, or for the time being. I doubt the project has been fully scrapped, but until a new programmer/programmers can start it back up again, it is likely not anywhere within our near future.
Keep your fingers crossed everything works out, or if you feel you're up the challenge and have the skills in your arsenal to further the 2.0 project, it wouldn't hurt to contact Katelyn and see what she has to say about it. :p
