For those of you who get peeved by the incest thing, she is probably not actually their older sister. Obviously there is the hair thing, but also in Chinese culture she might call herself 'big sister' simply to declare herself the superior and benefactor.
In much the same fashion, the alpha male in a group of friends might be called 'big brother.'
