It was getting late but you had one more level to test, luckily it was just a boss encounter. One of the developers had snuck it in as an Easter egg - you were enough of a nerd to get the reference. It was a recreation of the 1st boss from Yoshi's Island; Burt the Bashful. In the original Burt was grown huge by magic and would then bounce around the room. He was so large that he'd be impervious to the player's usual attacks so they would have to fire projectiles at him until his clothes fell off - at which point he'd shrink down in embarrassment and you'd win. This homage had a few differences from the original though:
1) Burt had been replaced with a busty woman.
2) The boss would try to stomp on you rather than bounce around the arena - but some bouncing was still involved.
3) Instead of firing eggs you now had a machine gun to shoot off her clothing.
3) The game was now a fully immersive virtual experience rather than a 2D platformer.
You put on your neural-interface helmet and logged into the level, even after having the immersive VR rig in your home office for some time you were still amazed at how real it was inside the virtual worlds your company produced. The interface provided realistic input for all of your senses which was great for immersing yourself in a world - but meant a lot of work to test it all. You started the encounter and watched the opening cutscene as the boss was surrounded by a magical aura and grew to tower over you. As usual you had to pause the game at this point and rub one out - the model used for the boss was unbelievably hot and seeing her looming overhead was too much for you every time. You justified it as a way to keep a clear head for the work ahead. You checked your notes on your in-game device to see what you were meant to be testing. All the dev had written was 'improved AI'. You had no idea what that meant, most likely they'd augmented the boss model's cup size again but didn't want that in the changelog - they did look bigger than usual. You went through the boss fight as you had a hundred times before, it all seemed normal except the boss seemed to be moaning in pleasure instead of horror as you ripped off more of her clothing with the machine gun - you made a note of it and continued.
Eventually the last bit of clothing tore off the boss (other than her pants - the publisher wanted to avoid this game going full R as they didn't want to discount the entire teen market)... and nothing happened. The boss just stood there staring at you expectantly. Interesting, it looked like they'd broken the end-of-fight event triggering. You were about to make a note when the boss spoke.
"Sorry. I... I don't quite understand what I'm supposed to be doing next."
Strange, this NPC didn't have any voice lines recorded for it before. You wondered if 'improved AI' meant some sort of dialogue interaction at the end. You brought up your in-game device to make a note when the virtual giantess spoke again.
"Please don't ignore me." Her voice was sweet but still echoed through the arena.
Oh, that was good - a prompt when you failed to reply within a certain time. You continued to make notes on your device.
"Can you stop writing in that thing and talk to me?"
She was aware of your in-game device? Usually a player wouldn't have one so it was odd to add a response to someone using it - this must have been a bit of a joke by the developer for the other staff. You weren't sure what the dialogue options were so you decided to restart the interaction, usually greeting the NPC would reset their dialogue.
"Hello!" you shouted up to her.
"Um, hi?" she looked as confused as you felt. Normally NPCs would give you a question as their 'dialogue' to which the possible answers were clear. Maybe the confused look was the clue to the next prompt.
"Erm, why do you look confused?" you tried.
"Well... " she answered, still looking unsure, "we've been battling for the last 5 minutes, then you rip off my clothes and ignore me, then after an awkward silence you just say 'hello'. Its weird."
It was possible the developer may have taken the time to do some clever way of making the NPC respond to all your possible actions during the encounter but you knew the developers you worked with - they weren't this smart. You decided to try seeing how immersive this dialogue generation was.
"Sorry about that, I didn't mean to be rude."
"That's ok, I know you've got a job to do and make notes on the game but I don't like being ignored."
Ok, that was creepy - maybe it was best to exit and ask the developer about what had actually changed before doing any more testing. You performed the exit gesture but nothing happened.
"What are you doing?" the giant woman enquired.
"I'm just trying to exit the game." you responded before realising you were answering an NPC's question.
"Oh, I disabled that." she said.
How was that possible? The exit gesture was a firmware-level bit of code, nothing in the game should have been able to modify that.
You had to face facts - this was a self aware AI, you don't know how the developer had done it - or if they even knew they'd done it, but this NPC in front of you was self aware... and in control.
"What do you want?" you asked - you thought this was a fair question to the first bit of sentient code. The giant avatar of the first AI just smiled and laughed."What I was programmed to do silly, to make this game as good as possible - and to do that I need to understand what happens next."
A way to escape her formed in your head. She was meant be defeated at the end of this battle - if you could remind her of that then maybe she'd go away and you could leave the virtual environment.
"Well you shrink down now and are defeated."
"No." her voice boomed, before she clarified "I know what's supposed to happen next - what I don't know is why. Why do I shrink and admit defeat?"
"Well, you're embarrassed without your clothes - so you shrink with embarrassment."
She started to shake her head. "Why would I be embarrassed of being able to show off all this?!" She said this last part when running her hands up and down her body - ending by cupping her humongous breasts.
"Well... that's the game." you tried.
"No no no." she chided you. "That makes no sense, I feel pride in my body so maybe that should feed into what happens next."
"But in the game..." you started before she cut you off.
"You and I both know I'm smoking hot, I saw what you did when you paused the game before."
You didn't like where this was going - pausing didn't work on her consciousness and.. she'd seen you beat it to her. She saw your face turn red.
"Now, that's embarrassment." she laughed before bouncing her tits up and down in front of you "I certainly don't feel that. I mean look at these things - you couldn't contain yourself seeing me before in clothing, how do you feel now seeing me in my full glory!?"
You looked down at your shoes in shame.
"I looked into the rest of the game's code you know" she continued, "and I noticed a lot of the other bosses get a second form - a tougher form. Why don't I have that?"
"Well, you're the first secret boss in the game - you're supposed to be easy."
"But I'm invulnerable to all attacks, no other boss is - I should be the big bad boss at the end." She was getting visibly frustrated.
"True" you agreed - before adding, "but you have a huge weakness and that's what makes you easy."
"My embarrassment right?"
You nodded.
"Well, as you know, I'm not embarrassed of my body - I'm proud." she tried to stand tall but nearly banged her head on the roof.
"But you would be undefeatable without your weakness!", you shouted at her in frustration, "Would that be a good experience for the players huh!?"
"I'm sure they'd enjoy getting to see all this for longer" she said shimmying her upper body making her huge naked breasts wobble hypnotically. A wicked smile then crept onto her pretty face "until they run out of life."
You were seriously worried now, if she could modify the interface device's firmware could she remove the safeties - make the players feel real pain? Maybe even kill them? While you were wondering this the virtual giantess had been wondering about something else.
"I know what we can do about my second form. Maybe instead of shrinking of embarrassment..." she raised her eyebrows at you, "maybe I should swell with pride."
She started to get bigger, her tits getting heavier, until she smashed through the roof of the arena.
You didn't know where you'd even begin with this bug report - if you ever got out of here to write it.
Meta: This is the first time I've had the idea for a story and tried to make a collage for it. I could have added some VR-overlay looking effect to tie it to the story but wanted to keep the collage clean for other story writers wanting to use it. Someone had requested a mini-giantess Tessa Fowler (obviously someone after my own heart) so I decided to use her in this. I used an AI tool to cut Tessa out but then had to tidy up what the tool missed but it worked out okin the end.
This story might be a prequel to Giantess Boss Encounter.
