She'd grown sick of those idiots in parliament trying to run the country. Every time you thought they couldn't make things worse they somehow found a way. Eventually she'd had enough.
Lady Ginger had always vowed to stay out of politics - not for moral reasons, just because it seemed pointless for her. Her immense size gave her power far beyond what any government could wield. She stayed out of their way and they stayed out of hers.
But when she saw what a hard time her little worshippers were being put through by their officials she found it hard to not intervene. The government's latest cutbacks and restrictions were the final straw - she decided to take control.
All she had to do was stand over the houses of parliament and declare that she was in charge now and the spineless politicians fled. Soon the house of commons was empty of anyone who could oppose her rule.
The house of lords was full of more stubborn characters who refused to leave at first, but all she had to do was stamp her feet a few times - slightly demolishing part of the ancient building in the process. After a few stomps the lords and ladies got the message and ran.
Now there was only one lady left to run the country - her.
Meta: I'm not falling for the old mistake of calling it Big Ben, no no no. I forget what the actual tower is called so I just referred to it as parliament. I put this together before making the connection between the house of lords and Ginger Lust being a lady - that worked out quite nice.
