Part 1 of The Forest Giantess Saga.
July 15th:
My apologies, I haven't updated this log in some time. Recent developments have kept me busy and made it difficult to find the time to keep this record up to date. Since my last entry we have relocated to a new camp. The reason for the relocation was that new information about our target was revealed. One of our guides informed us that he had learned of a village on the outskirts of the forest where the inhabitants have detailed knowledge of our quarry; the forest giantess.
Since learning of this and having no luck in our previous encampment we have set up just outside the village. Through the guides' translations we have learnt that the giant woman we seek was once one of them! Apparently she had been discovered as a child and was the same size as any other human. We've been told that it was only when she reached her late teens that her growth accelerated beyond usual human constraints.
The villagers here have superstitions about everything, including giant women. They tell us of an old folklore which states the world of man will end in the maw of giant woman. To me it sounds like a convenient excuse to cast her out and not have to feed her any more.
We are told she is sometimes spotted using a pass through the nearby cliffs. I intend for us to set up there next.
August 22nd:
It has taken a while but our grant from the Global Research Organisation has finally come through. I have been able to commission a watch tower to be built near the pass so we can watch for the comings and goings of the forest giantess.
Many in the team are unhappy with us relocating again, they believe we are chasing a myth and wish to move on to other projects. I have told them that anyone wishing to leave can leave.
August 23rd:
I am now alone on this project. But I will see it through to the end, I will see the giantess!
September 5th:
I haven't seen the giantess yet but I have seen what could be her footprints in the form of large areas of the scrub around the tower being flattened. It sends a shiver up my spine to think she may have been peering into the tower and observing me while I slept.
September 8th:
I awoke to see a gigantic figure in the twilight looming overhead and staring into the watch tower. I panicked and in my mad dash for my torch scared the figure off. The sensation of the ground shaking as it disappeared back into the pass still haunts me.
September 9th:
To avoid another encounter like yesterday's I have taken to sleeping away from the watch tower. I have set up camp nearby on the clifftops, there I should spot her if she comes back, but hopefully she won't spot me.
September 10th:
Success at last, I have finally seen the forest giantess in full. I awoke in the early morning to the sight of her looking in the watch tower, no doubt trying to get another look at me. She was breathtaking. The body of a super model barely covered by a garment she must have fashioned herself - all on a gigantic scale. She inspected my watch tower for some time before heading back towards the cliffs and out of my view. Now that I have seen her my next goal is to establish contact.
September 21st:
It has taken time but I have finally made contact. She came to visit the watchtower several times over the last week or so but I have been too afraid to make myself known - her size is quite intimidating. If she turned on me I would be nothing more to her than a bug to squash flat. But finally this morning as she finished looking around the watchtower and started to head back I shouted to her. Upon hearing my greetings she stopped in her tracks and turned to face me. To my delight a look of happiness, rather than anger or rage, was on her face. Then to my surprise she greeted me back in quite a congenial manner.
We spoke for some time. It became clear she was not the feral monster I had been led to believe. She was quite articulate, but she spoke slowly - like she found it hard to form her speech. As we continued our discord the cause of her hesitant form of speaking became apparent. She explained she was suffering from severe hunger - her size meant she needed a constant supply of food and she was finding it harder and hard to keep herself fed as she continued to grow.
I have struck a deal with the forest giantess in response to these revelations. I have agreed to keep her fed if she allows me to travel with her over the next few seasons and observe her lifestyle. With the supplies left behind from my deserters I have plenty to keep her fed over the next 6 or 7 months - beyond that I may need to approach the Global Research Org for another grant.
Meta: I've really been on a bit of binge with Kayla Kiss recently so I decided to make a series of collages with her and try to make a story to tie them all together. I've found its really easy to put a lot into these log-style stories so I need to make sure I don't go on too much. I've read a lot of HP Lovecraft and Arthur Conan Doyle recently so I think that has slightly influenced my style of this sort of writing.
