Coming up to the observation deck seemed like a great way to challenge your fear of heights.
You knew it'd be safe up here, it'd have to be with all the tourists who went up. As you stepped out of the elevator door, towards the doors to the outside section, you steadied yourself. You felt your heart racing - combined with your trembling muscles it felt like the world around you was shaking. You almost turned back but instead you shut your eyes and stepped forward.
You could feel the breeze on your face, it was strong - almost as strong as the scent of perfume. You opened your eyes to check you weren't about to bump into whoever was wearing it to find you were actually alone on the deck. Before you could question why you were alone up here you suddenly realised - you were doing it! You were on the deck with your eyes open. You stepped forward, then again - each move filled with trepidation as you approached the edge. The fear inside you was waging war with your amazement at the view. You were so engrossed in this internal battle that you forgot to question where that smell of perfume had come from.
The breeze was a bit stronger towards the edge, but it wasn't as bad as you expected. You were close enough to the end of the deck now to be able to see the streets below. You forced yourself to look - and regretted it. You felt your stomach lurch but you couldn't look away either for fear of somehow being pulled towards the drop if you didn't keep your eye on it. Then it finally happened - you blacked out.
This wasn't the first time you'd blacked out from your fear of heights - you felt silly for it happening every time though. Thankfully there was no one up here today to see what had happened - or so you thought.
"Oh my gosh, are you ok?" you heard the loud voice of a woman pipe up behind you.
"Yeah, yeah - I'm fine" you shouted back as you got to your feet.
You turned to give an embarrassed smile to the witness behind you to find yourself nearly ready to pass out again. Staring at you from beyond the glass barrier of the observation deck was a giantess. She beamed her huge asian smile down on you as she saw you notice her - and her ample bosom.
"Hey there little guy, how you feeling?" she cooed. You normally didn't care for being molly-coddled like this - but you had to admit it was nice she seemed to be genuinely concerned for you.
"Much better thank you." you shouted back.
"Let me guess, you don't like heights?" she teased you.
You nodded back and she smiled in response.
"I used to be the same - until I got big." she confessed, "I hated being high up, but now I love it."
"Its easy for you though, your feet are still on terra firma."
She laughed in response to your joke, "That's true - sometimes I forget what its like for you small people, having to put your faith in these fragile little buildings to keep you safe. I mean - they just seem so flimsy from all the way up here. The way they wobble just from my footsteps and..."
As the giantess spoke you realised you hadn't really felt the pull of your fear or swirls of vertigo since having your attention grabbed by her - but at her mention of the precarious nature of being up so high you felt your stomach lurch.
The giantess must have seen the color drain from your face, "Oh no - don't faint again little one..."
"No, its fine..." you lied, trying to keep yourself from throwing up in front of her.
"This is my fault isn't it?" panicked the giantess, "Look - ignore me, you're perfectly safe up here - this tower is totally fine for little people like you."
It wasn't working, you were still reeling - the giantess saw this and decided to switch tact.
"Hey, hey - little one, keep your eyes on me, looooook." she cooed, pulling her robe down to reveal more of her deep cleavage.
This had the desired effect on you and was enough of a distraction to stop the panic that had been building up.
"There you go, there you go." she repeated in a soothing manner, "Feeling better?"
You nodded dumbly.
"Good." she said, pulling her robe back up to your disappointment, "Now, get yourself back inside and closer to the ground for both our sakes - you nearly gave me a heart attack then."
You nodded your head in agreement of her suggestion and shuffled towards the exit in defeat, until the giantess called after you.
"Wait... I've got an idea."
You stopped in your tracks and slowly turned round to see her.
"Have you ever heard of exposure therapy?"
You had - it was the practice of exposing someone to their fear in the most extreme way to help them get over it... you didn't like where this was going.
"Yeah..."
"Well, how about I take you for a tour of the city at this height."
"I dunno, I can barely stand on this stationary roof."
"Yeah, but as we've established this roof isn't safe - I mean look how easily you could get blown towards the edge."
Before you could object to the demonstration the giantess pursed her lips like she was about to blow out a candle on a birthday cake. She only blew for only a second but you found yourself sent sailing into the barrier on the other side of the deck, far from the safety of the exit.
"Oh, sorry - I forget how strong I am now... and my breath." she worried as she thudded over to the side of the deck you were now on.
You could feel the panic setting in again but the giantess was quick to respond.
"Shhh, shhh - look, look..." she cooed again, showing you her cleavage again - "There, doesn't that look good? Hmmm? Doesn't it look... safe?"
She fixed you with a smile as she said this last bit - before reaching for you.
"Lets get you to safety." she tried to say soothingly as she plucked you off the deck, "...then you'll see that being high up isn't so bad."
As she dangled you between her fingertips you tried to struggle free before she pulled you away from the tower but found her grip too strong. Within moments you found yourself hanging over the city and realised now that trying to break free of her would no longer be in your interests.
"See, its not so bad is it?" she giggled manically, mistaking the sudden stopping of your thrashing for calm.
As you neared her bosom you could suddenly hear muffled cries. You looked down and saw to your horror a number of people wedged deep into her cleavage, all trying and failing to break free.
The giantess saw you take notice of them and addressed what you were thinking, "Oh - I'm rescuing them from that dangerous roof too. Just ignore them if they start going on about being taken against their will."
The giantess' laugh chilled you to your core - so that's why the rooftop had been so empty when you arrived.
As she brought you closer to her bosom you could see the city streets far below your feet. It didn't scare you as much as you thought it might have done. You realised now that your fear of heights had been replaced, by one of deranged giantesses.
Meta: This story took a few turns when writing it, it was going to be a short one about a cruel giantess teasing someone on a rooftop about heights until they passed out - but then I went with the gentle giantess angle. I like gentle giantesses but hate when they're written or presented in such a way that they just infantilise the tiny people around them. I understand some people would like to be treated that way, but I don't see a giant woman having that sort of demeanour... unless they were slightly deranged in some way - then it gets interesting.
The source photo of verysallish was a bit blown out but I thought it would work with a high-up setting with a lot of blue sky. The end result isn't too bad. The foreground was a lot of work as I had to recreate the glass panels myself - thankfully they're transparent enough that you can't really tell.
