I was watching an old episode of 60 minute make over online and I noticed something strange.
I thought I'd seen the episode before so I jumped ahead to make sure and something struck me. The main presenter, Claire, seemed to have gotten bigger than she was at the start of the episode. I jumped ahead again and she appeared to be bigger still. I jumped back to the beginning to make sure I wasn't seeing things, but it seems like I was right - she definitely hadn't been so large at the start.
It's subtle but when you skip through it becomes quite apparent that she's growing. Its likely that when episode when first went out on TV, no one noticed her growth as it was such a gradual change. Its like that old adage about how a frog will allow itself to be boiled alive as long as the temperature of the water its sat in rises slowly.
Her chest noticeably swells with her as she grows. It must have been noticeable to her co-presenters when they filmed though as their eyes are constantly drawn there in the first half of the episode.
Later in the episode it appears her co-presenters become afraid of Claire and her size. You can see them clearly avoiding eye contact with her more and more. Even the allure of her huge cleavage isn't enough to make them look in her direction at some points - they just look at the ground (some of them appear to be shaking in fear of her as she towers over them).
The bit where her change in size stands out most is towards the end. One of the co-presenters shows Claire a chair they've been restoring - and she loses it. After staring at the chair in what seems like a quiet rage she then launches into berating the comparatively tiny co-presenter, repeatedly telling him that the furniture he's making is far too small.
I wanted to see if she was still as big in the next episode but apparently this was the last one they ever made. After this none of the presenters ever appeared on TV again, except for Claire whose career actually had a major resurgence for some reason.
I suppose it was Claire who got the 60 minute make over in the end.
Meta: I made the four individual collages as a bit of a joke for a tweet. I wanted to make a bit of a giantess-based parody of the mandela-effect, asking if anyone remembered the episode of 60 minute episode where Claire Sweeney kept growing.
I took the shots from a video someone had put on YouTube using an old recording of the show - so thankfully the quality was low enough for me to get away with some lazy cutting. I experimented in using GIMP's own foreground selection tool, with some success, to quickly cut out Claire in each scene (except the first one, that's just a still from the episode - either she's quite tall in real life or has short co-presenters). I added my own video-player interface to each shot to add some consistency to it and to try and make it seem more believable.
I also experimented in trying to make her bust bigger throughout. I think I had some success but its nothing compared to the work of some morphers out there - I need more practice when it comes to that sort of thing.
