More resilient, and Kyrii is barefoot, plus the ground is probably soft enough to give as it's in the woods. I'm with you on the mulched bit, though I always found if more attractive if it takes her a few firm steps to get them there. Like it was a decision she made to want to want to smush them into nothing beneath her.
I'd like to believe that is exactly what Kyrii was doing in the last panel with her words, "Squish, Squish! So long my little canary!" With a close-up on Kyrii's expression rather than seeing her squashing the canary until she's unrecognizable. :p
