If the picture has been edited somehow from the original picture, the system will think it is a new image. It's impossible to know at all times what images are in the database that has 10's of thousands of pictures cataloged, so reposted pictures are bound to happen. It's not really that big of a deal when it does happen, if the link to the other pic is found, and they're both deemed to be around the same quality, we'll delete the new image. If the new image just somehow trumps the old image in quality, then we'll delete the old image and keep the new image for the database. If we never find or take notice of the repost, I don't think it is going to do much to impact the functionality of this site at all. The site is designed to keep 2 identically posted images from appearing in the database, so if 2 of the same images do appear, then something is in fact different about them which is usually easy to identify if viewed side-by-side.
