Well, it could be considered as a POV shot. But I see what you mean, someone should at least add a little guy pushing the pawn or something. xD

But I figure it's because of the size comparison with the chess pieces. They do, after all, represent people. It's a bit abstract, but actually, seeing ladies play chess has always tripped my macro trigger. Anyone remember that scene in Austin Powers with the Russian chick?
